On 5/17/25, I was abruptly logged out of my account. Attempts to reset my password failed, and the app displayed a message stating my account was disabled.
There was no prior notice, warning, or explanation. On 5/19 at 7:24 AM, I reached out via email to formally dispute the deactivation and request clarification. At 11:50 AM, I received a response from a customer service representative, Shelame, who claimed my account had been terminated due to repeated receipt submissions that violate our Terms and Conditions, specifically accusing me of uploading fraudulent receipts. No concrete examples, dates, or documentation were provided to support this serious allegation.
I replied at 12:38 PM, demanding clarification and a proper review. At 12:42 PM, I received a vague follow-up referencing only a single receipt that appeared to be uploaded from another device. At no point was I ever warned, flagged, or contacted regarding a potential issue. There was no indication that submitting receipts photographed via my own email account on my own devices would be inappropriate, let alone constitute fraudulence.
That term carries serious ethical and legal implications and should not be thrown around casually by staff. The fact that my account was permanently disabled without so much as a single alert, notification, or opportunity to respond is not only a violation of reasonable customer service practices; it is a complete failure of fair process. How can a company justify cutting off a user, without warning, and then labeling them as having engaged in fraudulent behavior, all while failing to present any actionable proof? Had I been informed that the method I was using to submit receipts was against policy, I would have stopped.
I was using the app in good faith and within what I understood to be the guidelines.
To retroactively penalize me without explanation or a chance to correct the behavior is unjust. As of 5/19, I have not received a response and my request for reinstatement has been ignored.

Cannot get gift card!!!!
I am trying to get my Amazon gift card. I received the initial email with the approval , security code and the link.
When I go to the link it directs me to view reward credentials. I click on it to open it and it is blank. There is no place to enter the security code, and I cant get the reward claim number.
I have emailed 3 times and have gotten email with the same link back each time. Dry frustrated and unhappy!

Receipt problem
Ive been putting in brand new receipts and Receipt Hog has been saying that they are duplicate receipts when theyre not youre having a malfunction on your app and its been going on for a month or two and you keep saying youre gonna fix the problem but the fire problem has never got fixed. I tried to go in the back of the app and tell them that it is not a duplicate receipt and it says oops something went wrong. Somethings been going wrong for two months and youre cheating me out of my point.

You dismiss perfectly good receipts that were provided by businesses. There are too many times that images are said not to be able to be read.
When I look back at the images it is clear. I do admit that there are a few longer receipts that are not clear.

I was being put through to Just Answer for a resolution of my problem. I have had two bad experiences with them overcharging and being difficult in sending a refund, so I will not use them any more. If you have no further option, then I think I will have to stop using your app and turn to one of your competitors.
If you have an alternative, I would like to know, otherwise good bye.

Verified ReviewerSystem errors. The use of Just Answer is not a viable way to operate.
System does not accept receipts with a valid date that is within the required time frame. Receipt Hog uses Just Answer as their customer service channel, and my experience with them is bad.
User's recommendation: Be aware that not all paper receipts will be read successfully. Date format issue.

I've been using Receipt Hog for a couple of years. I usually cash out at $5.
This time, I was trying to build my points up, and I was doing well, and then I lost my Google account and had to create a new Gmail. I have had no response from Receipt Hog or any contact from them, and there's no phone number to call.

Despite the fact that other receipts with handwritten store names on them had been accepted in the past, I was told that they are not accepted based on the app rules. A representative provided me an entry into the sweepstakes for a receipt that I entered that should have been accepted.
These should still be considered as receipts as all of the other information is on them.Ive also had receipts that do have the name on the top and they are not being accepted. When I try to respond by website, it always tells me that something went wrong. I am being inconvenienced by having to email you now on receipts that should be being accepted.

Learn to read terms and conditions
Spare me the “read the terms” deflection. I did—and nowhere does it state that submitting my own receipts via my email or another device is prohibited.
Section 5.12 refers to altered or third-party receipts, which I never submitted. Let’s call this what it is: a baseless accusation, a reckless misuse of the word fraud, and a total lack of due process. I got locked out without warning, and without a single opportunity to correct anything. That’s not policy enforcement—that’s cowardice.
That’s not how ethical companies operate—it’s how they get exposed. If Receipt Hog treats users this way, people deserve to know.
Reading them after doesn’t count. As witnessed here, you use the terms AFTER to fit your false narrative based on your interpretation.

The terms and conditions are to be read first to get an understanding of policy and to also raise questions on your part when you encounter issues you need to go back and look at. #lightweight
